In(Visibility)

Exhibition Dates: 22 June - 21 September, 2023

In(Visibility) celebrates the AGBI becoming visible in a new way to our applicants and our supporters with the capacity to assist our community of visual artists with more than grants.  Artists are masters of making the invisible, visible. They capture the essence of the world around us; narratives of things that are both seen and unseen and they explore, expose and conjure the invisible by stirring emotions in their audience.

Featuring letters written and illustrated by past artist stewards of the AGBI, In(Visibility) acknowledges the effort of our community to support our grants and make a difference in the lives of other artists. Our stewards continue the illustrious legacy of artists such as Elisabeth Frink and Maurice Sheppard to spread the word about the AGBI and highlight the visible and often invisible challenges affecting their colleagues.

Showcasing a small portion of our two-hundred-year-old archive, this exhibition is where our heritage meets the present AGBI, bringing all that has been concealed into the light of our new building.
